Community Social Services shall operate in a manner which prohibits unlawful discrimination in the provision of any services on any basis, including a person's race, color, religion, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation), national origin, age, disability, genetic information, or any other protected class or any other basis prohibited by federal, state, or local law. Community Social Services prohibits retaliation against any person because of opposition or complaints about discrimination in good faith, assisted in good faith in the investigation of a discrimination complaint, or participated in a discrimination charge or other proceeding under federal, state, or local anti-discrimination law.
Community Social Services maintains written policies and procedures ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Maine Human Rights Act.
This policy specifically addresses how persons with disabilities may access Community Social Services programs. Community Social Services will notify the Maine Department of Health and Human Services of any complaints filed under the above laws that result in a finding of reasonable grounds by an external regulatory body.
